That's the end of this live text as Bernardo Silva's late goal sends Manchester City into the FA Cup final.

    Watch the highlights above.

  2. 'Unacceptable to play today'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Neil Johnston

    BBC Sport at Wembley

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking in his news conference: "I don't understand how we survived today. It's unacceptable to play today. Today is one of the greatest things I have seen from my players.

"I just want to protect my players. It's unacceptable, it's common sense. I'm not asking for something special or privilege."

  3. 'Another box ticked for Palmer'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Frank Lampard

Former Chelsea player and manager on BBC One

Cole Palmer came into a club that is in a difficult moment. Maybe it has worked well for him as it has made him stand out, but it is not easy to arrive with such confidence and quiet arrogance.

Today is another box ticked for him. Wembley, high pressure, against Man City, can you perform again at the high level? And he has just done it.

The fact he has hit the ground running so quickly is amazing and there is no telling how far he can go for Chelsea and England.

  4. 'Palmer involved in everything good that happens for Chelsea'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Alan Shearer

Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC One

Cole Palmer is the shining light of this Chelsea team, the hearbeat of the side. Everything good that happens, he is involved in it.

His technique, his attitude, his ability to find and execute a pass at the right time.

Mauricio Pochettino would have been desperate for one of those big, big chances to have fallen to Palmer rather than Nicolas Jackson because the outcome would have been different.

He just couldn't find himself in those dangerous positions to get in on goal himself. He is here to stay, a top quality player.

  5. Post update

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Frank Lampard

Former Chelsea player and manager on BBC One

It's scary how far Cole Palmer can go. The levels he's shown are incredible.

I was a slow burner. That's the credit I give to Cole Palmer. I took me a year to feel comfortable at Chelsea. He's gone into the dressing room and said 'I'm the man' and he's delivered.

He can be one of those elite ones who keeps going up the levels.

  6. 'It is not about deserving it, it is about being clinical'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino speaking on BBC One: "It is so easy to explain. We conceded in a moment you should not concede. We were not capable of being clinical in front of goal, we had many chances but we did not score.

"I think in the game we were a little bit better and deserved more, but it is not about deserving it, it is about being clinical and we were not today."

On the missed chances and how to solve it: "I think last Monday we scored six but today we were not capable of scoring even with having maybe more chances and more clear chances to score."

On if today demonstrates this season's issues: "No I think today we were playing a very good team in Manchester City. It wasn't easy but we were capable of playing a very good game, competing really well. Looking forward we want to build on this, sometimes you have these sorts of games on your journey and the important thing is to take the positives from it."

On the race for European football: "The focus is on the game next Tuesday, there is not too many games to recover and it is going to be another tough game. Of course we need to win in a positive way to try to win more league games and get close to the position of being in Europe."

  7. Post update

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea have failed to score in five of their last six games at Wembley, as many times as their first 40 matches here.

  8. 'For City today was about character'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Frank Lampard

Former Chelsea player and manager on BBC One

I don't think you can analyse Manchester City today, that wasn't Manchester City. They haven't got the spark in the legs, the energy of the press, the sharpness, the killer instinct. Today was about character.

In top teams you are going to play a lot of games, what they showed today was another side of them by finding a way to get through a tough game.

  9. Post update

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Neil Johnston

    BBC Sport at Wembley

    .

Awaiting Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea don't have long to pick themselves up from this. They're at Arsenal on Tuesday while City are at Brighton on Thursday.

  10. 'You wouldn't put it past City winning both competitions'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Leon Osman

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

At this stage Man City have to be overwhelming favourites for the FA Cup and probably for the Premier League as well.

They still have a few tricky games left in the league but we have seen today that they know how to get the job done. They are calm, don't panic and keep playing their way.

It took until about 70 minutes today until they ticked into their normal patterns of play, and the players were clapping and encouraging each other as they knew they had found their rhythm. That is when you started worrying for Chelsea.

You wouldn't put it past them winning both competitions.

  11. 'It's unacceptable to let us play today' - Guardiola critices scheduling

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was furious in his post-match interview with BBC Sport that they had to play today after Wednesday's Champions League game with Real Madrid.

"It's unacceptable to let us play today," he said. "It's impossible, for the health of the players. It's not normal. It's unacceptable. 120 minutes, the emotions of Madrid, the way we lose, honestly. I know this country is special [with the FA Cup] but it's for the health of the players. I don't understand how we survived today."

Asked whether he has raised it with authorities: "Do you think demanding will change something? The only power I have I say here. Why don't we play tomorrow. Chelsea, Manchester United, Coventry didn't play midweek.

"I thought a lot. I remember two seasons ago we had Dortmund on Wednesday - and Liverpool on Saturday [in the FA Cup semi]. They were 3-0 up at half-time. They destroyed us.

"Mentally so tough to recover. Rodri, the way he played today, Kyle, who was injured for a few weeks, I don't understand how they survived.

"We want to play football. We love to play football but it's too much.

"We defend our trophy. We'll be here.

"They killed us on the transition. The game was so tight. [I thought] extra time, no please."

On what he told his players: "Don't fight against your feelings. If you're sad you're sad. If you're disappointed you're disappointed. I'm sad. I'm so down. We played an exceptional game. I said if you're sad play with your sadness."

  12. 'There were days where I loved it but I still felt leggy'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Frank Lampard

Former Chelsea player and manager on BBC One

I loved playing in so many competitions throughout the season, loved it. There were days where I loved it but I still felt leggy.

Fortunately when you play in top teams then you will get a team-mate that digs you out with a goal, like Bernardo Silva today or Kevin de Bruyne in midweek.

But I loved it, and wouldn't have had it any other way.

  13. 'Fans should show patience'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Frank Lampard

Former Chelsea player and manager on BBC One

I think fans should show patience. They've shown good performances against top teams. They did it twice in the league against Man City, they've done it today and against Arsenal and against Aston Villa. Palmer was the man they needed in front of the goal for those cutting edge chances today.

  14. 'A poor day at the office for Jackson'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Alan Shearer

Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC One

A poor day at the office for Nicolas Jackson. Mauricio Pochettino feels Chelsea should be about fourth on expected goals and this is exactly what he's on about.

Jackson never looked comfortable. They are absolute sitters, they really are. Three great chances for him.

SMS Message: Coventry will beat Man Utd tomorrow and we will show that we are the real sky blues against Man City from George
    George
  16. 'The chance was there to beat a wounded Man City'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Leon Osman

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The decision making from Chelsea was poor. Taking an extra touch in crucial moments has cost them, such as that Ben Chilwell moment when he should have squared the ball earlier.

The chance was there to beat a wounded Man City today, so Chelsea will be frustrated. You've seen City much better, far better, they were sloppy and off it at times.

Pep Guardiola wanted a reaction from his players today, he needed them to win to get back on track and he is delighted.

  17. 'Chelsea lacked quality'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Alan Shearer

Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC One

Pep will be very, very proud of his players after what happened in midweek and finding a way to win this game. Chelsea can only blame themselves, they created really, really good chances. It's not unlucky, it's just lacking quality. It is very similar to their cup final defeat here.

  18. 'Probably the best Chelsea have played all year'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Jermaine Jenas

Former England midfielder on BBC One

That is probably one of the best performances Chelsea have put in all year, but it's probably the happiest Pep Guardiola has been all year.

Gregg: Might as well not bother when we get to Wembley, 10 in last 13 there we’ve lost. Just supremely frustrating as we were the better side this afternoon, once again just couldn’t finish our chances yet again, so you get what you deserve, especially against City.

Sam: From zero to hero, what a few days Bernardo silva has had from that awful pen that lead to champions league exit to the winning goal to get city into fa cup final

  20. 'We're looking forward to the final'

    FT: Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Manchester City

Manchester City goalscorer Bernardo Silva to BBC One: "Very happy after a very frustrating week for all of us, for me personally. The good thing is in football at Man City, you play every three days. Every three days you have the chance to put things right and now we have a chance to win another trophy."

On the goal: "It's the usual Kevin de Bruyne movement. You try to put numbers in the box to increase your chances of scoring. I'm lucky the ball dropped there."

On showing character: "Throughout the years, we've done it may times and today, the team showed a lot of character."

On the final: "It's going to be tough. Between Coventry and Manchester United, it's going to be a very good game and we're looking forward to the final."
